Girls Track and Field: Season at a Glance

03/21/2003

Caesar Rodney returns most of the components from the team that won the Division I state title last year, followed by Brandywine and Glasgow. That's also how those teams stand in the preseason rankings.

As for contending within the Blue Hen Conference, Brandywine is diverse and won't just count on its strong reputation in the distance events. Kamilah Salaam looks to round out a super career at Glasgow. Newark might not win the conference but, like Brandywine, also has the versatility to be a strong.

With CR looking at another state title possibilty in Division I, Cape Henlopen will be the Riders' main competitor within the Henlopen Conference. Other top Henlopen squads include Seaford and Polytech.

Cape, the defending Division II state champs, will pile up points in field events, as should Polytech.

Two strong programs will come out of the Catholic Conference - Padua with its sprinters and jumpers and Ursuline with distance runners.
