 State Meet 2012

Tatnall girls and Salesianum boys claim 2012 team titles!!!

OFFICIAL RESULTS

News Journal articles  Boys  |  Girls

1 state records and 3 state meet records fall on Saturday at the state meet. On the girls' side, Delcastle Tech's 4x200 team of Morgyn Bennett, Khalleese Woolbright, Royce Aiken,  and  Tatyana Harris ran 1:44.91 to set a new state meet record!  The old record stood since 1990!!  Their time is #3 in state history!!

Tatnall girls swept the 800, 1600, and 3200 for 72 points in just 3 events, with Haley Pierce winning 2 individual events in running 5:14 and 10:35 in the 1600 and 3200 respectively. Reagan Anderson took first place in the 800M, running 2:22.53. Padua took 2nd place overall with 75 points, starting the day off with a big win in the 4x800M (Panella, Alequine, Whitmarsh, and Spadaccini- 9:38.65 #5 all-time). Padua Freshman Maiya Dendy took first in the 200M (25.51).

For the boys, Glasgow Senior Leshon Collins bettered his own existing state record in the 55M, running 6.29. He also came back and took first place in the 200M in 22.60 and won the long jump in 22-1.5.

Tatnall senior Sam Parsons broke the meet record in the 3200 in 9:22.51, just missing his own state record of 9:20.00 set in December.  Parson also took 1st overall in the 1600M, running 4:24.56 (#9 all-time).

Salesianum won the team title with 86.5 points, impressively taking the title with only one individual winner (Dave Goddavage in the shot -50-3.75).

Milford took 2nd overall with wins in the 4x800 (Savage, Brown, Doughty, and Johnson -8:17.03) 4x400 (Johnson, Savage, Russell, Brown- 3:30.22), and the triple jump (Ryan Thomas, 45-2.5).

Indoor State Banquet

Due to a conflict with the hall the Indoor All State banquet has been moved to Wednesday February 22nd at 6pm at the IBEW Hall. This will be a really quick turn-around time for the trophies and programs AND reservations. We will need everyone's vote for coaches of the year by NOON on February 14th. And I will need the final counts for each school by Friday February 17th. I know this isn't much time, but since we are only dealing with the All State team we felt it was better than moving the banquet to March when spring track has begun.

Flyers will be available on Saturday, please tell your teams/parents about the change and early RSVP date. Thank you, contact me with any questions!

Mckenna, Parsons, Macedo, and Pierce

Salesianum boys and Tatnall boys took home convincing first place trophies in the boys races at Killens Pond on Saturday!  Salesianum placed 6 in the top 16 to run away with Division I. Tatnall went 1,2,4, and 10 to win by 29 points!! McKenna and Parsons stole the show with runaway wins!! Sam Parsons crushed the existing course record by 10 seconds, and he also shattered the existing state record by 21 seconds. McKenna had the #2 time of the day in 15:58, just 2 seconds shy of the old state record. Charter boys and Archmere boys came away with the Division I and Division II second place trophies!!

Charter and Tatnall girls also had dominant team performances in their respective races. Tatnall came away with a perfect 15 points, sweeping 1-5, and taking places 7 and 12 for the victory. Charter placed 4 in the top 10 to win for the third straight year!  All eyes were on Pierce and Macedo, and when the results were posted both girls finished with the exact same time!! Pierce's final time gives her the de facto course record, but they both ran impressive races in solo efforts.  St. Mark's finished 2nd in division I, and Ursuline came away with the Division II 2nd place trophy.

Week 8

Sam Parsons repeated as County Champions, running 15:52 to lead Tatnall boys to victory over Salesianum and Charter, 50-66-87.
Reagan Anderson wins in 18:04 as Tatnall girls repeat over Charter and Padua, 26-75-100. The built-up race of the day was between #1 ranked and nationally undefeated Julie Macedo against #14 ranked and 2-time defending champion Haley Pierce. No one could have scripted the finish, but the girls ran each other into the ground in an attempt to prove their excellence. With just 800M to go the course record was easily in jeopardy, but in the end Tatnall's Reagan Anderson was there to pick up the pieces and capture the county championships. This is proof that anything can happen in XC!!
