Joseph Beattie has been teaching and coaching at Verot since 1984. He graduated from Niagara University in 1962 and completed studies for the priesthood at the DeSales School of Theology in 1966. He has been teaching and coaching on the high school level since that time, winning thirteen Cross Country State Championships and four State Track Championships in Delaware. Fr. Joe began the Cross Country program here at Verot in 1984. Since that time the Vikings have qualified to run in the State Championship (individual and/or team) eleven times in the past fifteen years. More recently, the Viking Boys' Team has won five Citrus Six Conference Championships and four District 3A Championships. Fr. Joe is a member of the Delaware Track and Field Hall of Fame. |

Fr. John Beattie begins his seventeenth year at Bishop Verot where as a member of the Religion Department teaching scripture to the sophomores. Fr. John earned his Masters in English from Niagara University and was ordained and Oblate priest in 1965. Father has coached the Girls' Cross Country and Track teams since 1988. The Girls' Cross Country teams have earned their way to the State Florida Finals in Jacksonville for five consecutive years. Also, the Girls' Track teams have won four consecutive District Championships. Fr. Beattie has been named Girls' Track Coach of the Year by the Sportsman's Club and the News-Press in 1999. Fr. John also serves as chaplain of the Verot football team, and he extends a Viking "Esperanza" and good luck to all the Bishop Verot coaches and student athletes for 2000-2001. |
