Just browsing through N5CTA for the first time in a while (always nice to check up on the Delaware running scene) and I noticed you are posting some news about alumni runners. Thought I would pass on some info on Lydia Singer, who ran for Wilmington Christian through her junior year. Lydia is now a junior running at Calvin College, which is a division III power in XC (2 national championships and 3 runners-up in the past 15 years, and has run at nationals every year since 1991 except

one) (Calvin also happens to be my alma mater). She was MVP of her conference this past season, and helped lead her team to a 17th place finish at nationals. Lydia also qualified for nationals in the the 3000m steeplechase last season, and finished 14th place at nationals. I was not able to find a concise press release of the facts, but this page has some details: http://www.miaa.org/wcc/ also http://www.calvin.edu/academic/pe/athletics/wtrack/Roster/singer.htm

I am finding out what it's like to coach a large team -- we had 90 boys on the roster here at Gonzaga last fall. I was one of 6 coaches . . . the team did quite well, winning our conference championship.

Unfortunately there is no "state meet" for DC teams. We were unable to make it to the Salies invite because our head coach sent in the registration info too late . . . I am trying to convince her to go back next year, but we ended up at a nice alternative meet in the Shenandoah Valley, and she might decide to return there instead.
